Questions

Does the book foster development of processes?

Somewhat.

Does the book provide an opportunity for children to ask and answer their own questions?

The book asks a question and you can give time for the students to answer.  They can ask themselves more questions about meerkats as the book goes on, and those questions are likely to be asked and answered somewhere in the book.

Does the book encourage children to think for themselves?

Somewhat.  The book asks a question in big font then provides the answer- students can try to answer for themselves before getting to the answer.  They can also infer different information that may have not been presented in the book yet.

Is the science topic addressed in ways that are appropriate to the lesson?

Yes, It explains all different things about the meerkat.  However, it is very specific to meerkats, so the lesson would need to be about meerkats which may be a more random topic.

Is the content based on sound scientific principles? Is it accurate?

Yes. Yes.

Does the book distinguish between fact and fiction?

Yes.  Seems like mostly all fact.
